Center for Innovative Research on Aging Society (CIRAS)

 

In correspondence to the challenges of an upcoming hyper-aged society in Taiwan, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the Center for Innovative Research on Aging Society  ( CIRAS ) was officially established in 2018. The mission of CIRAS is to develop multiple innovative holistic community care models for a super aged society in Taiwan. CIRAS put strong emphasis on the following subjects, “social transformation”, “research and practices in elder physiology, psychology, cognition and exercise health promotion", and “development and application of gerontechnology on elder lives and healthcare”. 
 In order to deal with the challenges of aged society comprehensively, CIRAS focuses not only academic researches of the elderly, but also community engagement and empowerment, life course issues, health promotion programs, active aging learning, aging nutrition and organic care farming. In addition, each area CIRAS is in collaboration with different institutes or organizations. For instances, CIRAS has worked with communities around Chiayi and established “Aging Community Engagement Living Labs  ( ACELL ) ” to collaboratively build Public-Private-People-Partnership for better realization of life experiences.
